Lavender sessions are usually on Friday evenings (with the following Tuesday evening as a fall-back in case the Friday session is rained off). Sessions start at 7pm, with the farm closing at 9pm. There is always very limited availability (just a handful of sessions a year) so please book early.
2020 Lavender Notice 2020's lavender sessions will be provisionally booked for the five Fridays in July. Hitchin Lavender won't be able to confirm their late night opening hours until closer to the time - so if they change their evening open hours we will need to move your session accordingly.
Please bear in mind that all locations can vary quite considerably year-to-year, and depending on the light conditions on the day. These images are a guide only, no two sessions look exactly the same even when taken a few days apart.
On cloudy evenings, we shoot up the field with the rows of lavender falling behind. On sunny evenings, we shoot across the field for backlit light. The colour of the lavender will vary according to the light on your session day, with more pinkish hues on sunny evenings and more purple hues on cloudy evenings.
Hitchin Lavender in July
Sunflowers at Hitchin Lavender are sometimes in bloom at the end of July. Sunflowers cannot be guaranteed to be in bloom for a lavender session - but if they are, you are welcome to use them! For the best chance of sunflowers being in bloom, choose a session as late in July as possible.
