It was such a beautiful evening out (not raining for once, hurray!), I just had to drag my little sis and her new hubby Kev out for some pics as the sun went down... she even let me dress her in something a bit flouncy :) as you can see Mandy is a natural model (and an amazing beauty!) Kev did a fab job assisting and helping me bounce the sunlight back onto Mandy to give her an angelic glow. These were all snapped using only natural sunlight just before it dipped below the trees, my fav time of day for photos! I really love all the soft hazy light & sun flares in these photos. Time was limited as the sun was dropping fast and little man was bombing about the place (he managed a few photobombs bless him!) so it was just a quick shoot ~ all shot at Mentmoor in Dunstable at around 8pm.
Before and after editing, and the importance of shooting RAW
Below is an example of before and after the editing process :) the before image on the left is a small jpeg image straight out of the camera, these are shot alongside my RAW files so that I know which image is contained within each RAW file, and they are also used as proof images in the proof viewing galleries so that my clients can choose their favourite images for editing. The JPeg images aren't great; the camera decides on the contrast and saturation etc which isn't generally how I like my image to look. The after image on the right is the finished jpeg which has been edited from the RAW file. (RAW files are huge files that contains image data that has not been compressed, encrypted or processed in any manner, allowing me full creative management of the image) As you can see, after the RAW conversion Mandy doesn't need much touching up at all, but the overall benefits of brightening, enhancing the eyes and hair and the use of creative colour-casts can be seen here, resulting in a beautiful fresh image xx
